In the 1980s some entrepreneurs in Ghana invested in vhs video equipment and brought movies to Ghana. They toured the country and brought the magic of film to towns and remote villages many of which did not have electric power (a portable generator was used). The movies were shown in restaurants, school houses or outdoors and in many cases introduced movies to people for the first time.
To promote the films local artists were commissioned to do original movie posters. These posters were typical oil paintings that were rolled up and taken from town to town. The artist recalled scenes from memory but in some cases had not seen the film at all.
Each poster was unique and generally no copies were printed. In the 1990s television became widespread in Ghana and the portable theaters faded away. Since then Ghanaian hand painted movie posters have become popular with collectors around the world.

Vermont based Illustrator Justin Reed was born in 1979, and received a BFA in Illustration from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. We are going to present his work which is based on killer and spectacular movie illustrations. He choose some of the classic and most popular movies and movies characters like batman, joker or dirty harry and create some of the amazing illustrations. His work is totally awesome and give you a totally different look and feel of these famous movies. Lets have a look.

You’d probably expect temple murals to depict religious themes and Buddha, but the Wat Rong Khun temple in Chiang Rai isn’t your ordinary holy place, as you can easily tell by the murals.
According to Wikipedia, in 1997, Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat volunteered to carry out the work for Wat Rong Khun’s ubosol (the temple’s assembly hall) at his own expense, but he changed the original plan so drastically that it began drawing in both local and foreign tourists, eager to see the white wonder. Just like Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia cathedral, the unconventional Buddhist and Hindu temple is still under construction and some say it won’t be finished in the next 100 years.
Wat Rong Khun is entirely white, to symbolize Lord Buddha’s purity, and the mirrors used signify his wisdom, which “shines brightly all over the Earth and the Universe.” There is also an impressive bridge across a sea of human hands reaching out towards the sky, but perhaps the most interesting thing about this unique temple is its interior artwork. The imagery is painted in golden tones, depicting sacred animals and spaceships alike. That’s right, futuristic spaceships piloted by robots, ans superheroes like Superman in flight, that’s what’s painted inside Wat Rong Khun. Other scenes you might recognize show popular characters like the Predator, Neo from Matrix, Spiderman, Batman, and even creatures from the Avatar movie.

Angelenos Doug Billings and Tracy Garner are about to get married. Two days before the wedding, the four men in the wedding party - Doug, Doug's two best buddies Phil Wenneck and Stu Price, and Tracy's brother Alan Garner - hop into Tracy's father's beloved Mercedes convertible for a 24-hour stag party to Las Vegas. Phil, a married high school teacher, has the same maturity level as his students when he's with his pals. Stu, a dentist, is worried about everything, especially what his controlling girlfriend Melissa thinks. Because she disapproves of traditional male bonding rituals, Stu has to lie to her about the stag, he telling her that they are going on a wine tasting tour in the Napa Valley. Regardless, he intends on eventually marrying her, against the advice and wishes of his friends. And Alan seems to be unaware of what are considered the social graces of the western world. The morning after their arrival in Las Vegas, they awaken in their hotel suite each with the worst hangover. None remembers what happened in the past twelve or so hours. The suite is in shambles. And certain things are in the suite that shouldn't be, and certain things that should be in the suite are missing. Probably the most important in the latter category is Doug. As Phil, Stu and Alan try to find Doug using only what little pieces of information they have at hand, they go on a journey of discovery of how certain things got into the suite and what happened to the missing items. However they are on a race for time as if they can't find Doug in the next few hours, they are going to have to explain to Tracy why they are not yet back in Los Angeles. And even worse, they may not find Doug at all before the wedding. Two days before his wedding with the wealthy Tracy Garner, Doug Billings travels to his bachelor party in Las Vegas with his best friends, the school teacher Phil Wenneck and the dentist Stu Price, and Tracy's unconventional brother Alan Garner. Tracy's father lends his convertible Mercedez Benz that is his pride and joy to Doug with many recommendations. The quartet rents the best suite in the Caesar's Palace and they go to the roof to celebrate. Alan proposes a toast to Doug and they drink his booze. On the next morning, Phil, Stu and Alan have a hangover and they do not recall what they did last night; the room is upside down; Doug is missing; there is a baby in the wardrobe; a tiger in the bedroom; a chicken in the room; Stu has a missing tooth; and Doug is missing. The trio tries to track down last night to find what happened and sooner they discover that Stu married the stripper Jade (heather Graham) and Alan has spiked their booze with "Good Morning, Cinderella" in the beginning of their crazy night.
Just two days before his marriage with Tracy Garner, Doug Billings, in the company of two friends: Phil Wenneck and Stu Price; and Tracy's eccentric brother, Alan, head out to party in Vegas. Driving his father's Mercedez, they rent a pricey villa at Caesar's and head for the rooftop to have a good time. Three of them later wake up with a hangover, unable to re-collect what exactly happened. With the villa in a wreck, turned upside down, they find that they have a baby in the closet, a grown tiger in the bathroom, Stu has a missing tooth and a hooker for a bride, and Doug is missing. Hilarious chaos results as the trio head out to re-trace their steps, find out that occurred in order to try and locate Doug, and bring him home in one piece before the wedding.
There is a movie sequel to the Hangover ahead of us: Director Todd Phillips is indeed working on a script for the Hangover 2! In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said that Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms would back to reprise their roles. He also hinted that the Hangover 2 could move to a new city for new crazy adventures:
“What people loved about The Hangover was not Las Vegas or the bachelor party but these three characters. I think you can take those characters and put them in other situations, and you don’t need the sell of Vegas and a bachelor party and all that other stuff.”

Well, as long as the same actors from the first film are back for this sequel to the Hangover, he’s got my support whatever the city! Those guys are so crazy: They make the show, not the city where the plot takes place. Production on The Hangover 2 should start in October 2010. And the release date of the Hangover 2 is tentatively set for Memorial Day 2011, so it will hit theaters on May 30, 2011. I guess we can already consider The Hangover 2 as a Summer 2011 blockbuster.
Since Director Todd Phillips didn’t give any plot details of the Hangover 2, would you have any suggestion? What could be an excuse for our funny anti-heroes to get wasted and go through a new series of hilarious adventures in the Hangover 2 movie?
