Long Distance Love
I wrote you poem after poem professing my love for you
I told you that you where all that truly ever mattered in my life
I told you how sweet and loving all the little things are that you do
I promised you that one day soon you will be my loving wife
We talked on the phone for hours on end
We text and instant messaged daily too
We talked about our lives together being the perfect blend
We talked about our love being always and forever true
All these things so many see as a sign of true love
When it comes right down to the awful truth of the matter
The reality of it is true love is not always any of the above
But found solely in that little thing that goes pitter patter
You can show another where your heart is in a poem or letter
Even so should you take them in your arms and look into their eyes
When you see that sparkle, feel the warmth, it has to be even better
You will find only then that the written words are not simply lies.
Don’t give up so easily your love, heart and soul
For the written words you can not wait to see
Long distance love more often than not is playing a different role
The words you read that stole your heart where never meant to be
Not to say that it isn’t possible at all
For surely no one truly knows how we think and feel
Never the less keep in mind the chances are very small
That love that is confessed to you may just not be for real
