Nashville-based artist, Herb Williams, makes incredible 3D sculptures from hundreds of thousands of colorful Crayola crayons.
37-year-old Herb first started working with Crayola crayons, after he was inspired by a dream. He had worked with various mediums, but his career wasn’t really going anywhere, he had no money and was alienating his friends due to frustration. He even got to the point where he thought “this is not worth it”, burned some of his works, but it was that very night that he has a powerful dream in which someone inspired him to use crayons in his art. He got up the next morning, wrote some ideas in his notebook, and he has been making a living out of it ever since.
Most people would have probably used the crayons as drawing tools, but not Herb. He painstakingly cuts ever crayon to size, using a double guillotine cigar cutter, before sticking them to a shaped mould, with industrial glue. He is the only person in the world who has a personal account with Crayole, because of the high number of crayons he buys from them every year. Each of his spectacular 3D sculptures numbers thousands, sometimes even hundreds of thousands of crayons, and he always has crates of 3,000 of each crayon color shaped to his workshop.

As ‘realistic’ as it may look, this incredible painting is simply part of a new exhibition of four dimensional art in North East China. The collection of paintings, on display at a contemporary art exhibition in the Jilin province, uses techniques similar to the ‘stand-up’ advertising hoardings that are sometimes painted on the edges of sports pitches. The pieces are a huge hit with spectators who have already shown a talent for interacting with the works to become part of the art themselves.

These realistic 3D murals are the creation of artist Eric Grohe who is from the United States. Some are lifelike enough that you will have to look very close to determine if they are real or not.

The following is an amazing series of murals by artist Eric Grohe. He takes a blank, sometimes derelict wall and brings it to life.

Eric researches, paints and designs each project from scratch while his wife Kathy, also an artist, serves as project manager.

17-year-old Chilean artist, Fredo, is an incredible talent. These sketches demonstrate his wonderful creativity and patience, as perspective and depth are both difficult effects to achieve. Inspired by the greats like, M.C. Escher, Rembrandt, Beksinski and Arcimboldo, Fredo also acknowledges music as an integral part of life and his creative process.

Some of his extremely detailed drawings even feature creepy goblins holding physical objects like a lighter or reaching out of the page for a soda can. To be able pull this off, this gifted teenager not only has a powerful imagination but an extreme amount of patience and a crazy amount of talent.

Ceramist R.J. Vogland is a creative artist who makes 3D illusions using ceramic tiles. These custom hand sculpted tile murals can be used in swimming pools, spas, wall murals, kitchens, showers, signage and walkways. His murals combine the best of painting and sculpture in a work, created using hand-painting and airbrush techniques. The colored images are bonded to the tile with a translucent outer glaze. Vogland sculpts his own tiles from raw clay. It is a timeless process; every mural is made to order entirely by hand with no power tools. His works are included in over a thousand private collections throughout the world.
