To Snip or Not to Snip: That is the Question. Leave it to Russell Crowe to set off a Twitter war over foreskin.

Crowe went off on a multi-Tweet tangent about the perils of circumcision after a fan asked him to weigh in on the current campaign to ban circumcisions of children in San Francisco.

?My son is due soon. Do you think I should get him circumstanced? [sic]? @Picknic11 asked the actor.

?Circumcision is barbaric and stupid. Who are you to correct nature? Is it real that GOD requires a donation of foreskin? Babies are perfect?? Russell wrote.

But the fun didn?t end there. The always outspoken Crowe ? who was charged with second-degree assault in New York after throwing a telephone at a hotel employee back in 2005 ? got into a particularly angry exchange with one follower, whom he branded a ?moron,? before imploring Jews to ?stop cutting your babies.?

?Many Jewish friends, I love my Jewish friends, I love the apples and the honey and the funny little hats but stop cutting yr babies. I will always stand for the perfection of babies, I will always believe in God, not man?s interpretation of what God requires. Last of it, if u feel it is yr right 2 cut things off yr babies please unfollow and f? off, I?ll take attentive parenting over barbarism,? he added.

The outburst provoked dozens of responses from his followers:

?There?s actually a scientific reason for [circumcision], u should google it,? read one.

Crowe replied: ?My friend, ?human? science has caused too much damage, don?t be a moron.?

Another follower told him: ?I disagree on Circumcision , It?s more hygienic and nobody remembers it??

Crowe replied: ?Hygienic? Why don?t you sew up your ass then??

Crowe Tweeted: ?I will always stand for the perfection of babies, i will always believe in God, not man?s interpretation of what God requires??

The Oscar-nominated actor also weighed in on abortion: ?Abortion should always be a woman?s choice, there is no benefit to ?forced? motherhood?you got it? don?t like it then bye??

A short time later, a seemingly cooler Russell apologized for any offense he may have caused, writing: ??Wasn?t intending offense, certainly wasn?t intending to provide fodder for lazy journalists. I can?t appologize [sic] for my heartfelt belief??
