Paramount Pictures is wooing GoodFellas lensman Martin Scorsese to direct a film version of the epic love story between British actor Richard Burton and recently-departed screen legend Elizabeth Taylor ? The Original Brad & Angelina.
The project would be based on Furious Love, a book about Burton and Taylor?s relationship written by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger and authorized by Taylor before her death from heart failure in March.
Even David Seidler, who wrote 2011?s Best Picture Oscar winner The King?s Speech, and Black Swan actress Natalie Portman bid for the rights of the book before being beat out by Paramounth. Furious Love would chart the couple?s often tumultuous relationship, which famously began as an affair on the set of the 1963 film Cleopatra. After falling in love in what became one of the most written about scandals of the era, Taylor and Burton divorced their respective partners and married each other in 1964. They divorced a decade later only to tie the knot again in 1975. They pair were Splitsville again by the following fall.
Though she was the Mrs. to six other men at various points in her life, Taylor always described Burton as the love of her life and once said that she believed she could have married him a third time if he had not died in 1984. They starred in 11 films together, including the 1972 film Divorce His, Divorce Hers and 1966?s Who?s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? for which Taylor won one of her two Academy Awards. But it was their rows off screen that Liz credited with giving the relationship an endearing quality

Scouts are already on the hunt for their Richard, but according to show business sources in Los Angeles, Welsh beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones, who recently underwent treatment for bipolar disorder, is on the shortlist along with Angelina Jolie.
