Just as Angelina Jolie prepares to pour "Salt" on a sequel, the Oscar-winning actress looks likely to appear in an Oscar-nominated director's new film.
Just Jared reports that Jolie is meeting with "The Fighter" director David O. Russell this week to discuss collaborating together on "The Silver Linings Playbook," his new comedy adaptation of Matthew Quick's novel about a recently released mental hospital patient looking to reclaim his life. Russell, late of "Uncharted," has already cast Mark Wahlberg in the lead role.
Check out the rest of today's biggest casting news past the jump!
Goode For "Stoker"
So much for Colin Firth's vampire movie. Park Chan-Wook's "Stoker," which may or not even be a vampire movie at all, is now looking at "Watchmen" star Matthew Goode to fill out the coveted role of a "mysterious uncle" who terrorizes a family consisting of Nicole Kidman and Mia Wasikowska. Variety reports that the actor is currently in talks for the part.
Damon Uses "The Office"
Remember that Matt Damon directorial debut we told you about a little while back? It's still on, according to the man himself. In fact, it already has some casting lined up; Damon tells Vulture that "The Office" star John Krasinski is on board to star in "Father Daughter Time," about a criminal (Damon) on the lam with his daughter.
"Now You See" Eisenberg
"The Social Network" star Jesse Eisenberg is about to pull off a heist of a different color. Variety reports that the Oscar nominee has agreed to take on the lead role in "Now You See Me," about a group of magicians who pull off bank heists during their performances. Jake Gyllenhaal is tentatively in talks for a role as well.
Rwanda Gets "True Blood"
Deadline reports that Rutina Wesley, best known for playing the frequently victimized Tara on "True Blood," has agreed to take the lead in "Left to Tell." The biopic centers on the struggles of Immaculee Ilibagiza, a woman who spent 91 days hidden with seven other women in a cramped bathroom during the 1994 Rwandan genocide campaign.
"Rushmore" Reunion
Deadline also has the news that Olivia Williams, recognizable from her roles in "Rushmore," "Dollhouse" and "Hanna," has emerged as the frontrunner to play Eleanor Roosevelt in "Hyde Park on the Hudson." If cast, she would reteam with her former "Rushmore" love interest Bill Murray, who was previously cast as FDR.
