MemeMolly is a great example of a Vlogger/content producer who is commercializing her audience equity on Youtube. She is the 4th most subscribed Canadian on Youtube. Here are two examples of her commercial nouse.

She recorded this music video clip for artist Ali Slaight, she helped to bring 40,000 new listeners to her music.

On MemeMolly homepage she has also given up her prime video position to the MyDamnChannel, a commercial channel sponsored by Southern Comfort.

On a side note; this is a few of the better channels that I am subscribed to on Youtube (full listing here).

I have just realised that my favourite unrelated online content is all written by females.

Twitter

_neek
I would put likeomg up there as well.

Blogs
Imnotantisocial – I am clearly not in target demo for this blog but really enjoy reading it?!?!??!

Tavi – She is 12 years old, WTF?

Why the hell is there not more female online copywriters?

If we do not do something about this, we will be left with shit like Hooking Up.

Really good ideas to a Social Media Startegist (Audience Equity from the top vloggers on Youtube, how could this not be a success?) but such a massive error on the copywriting.

My good ol’ model of Audience Equity just got edited, I suggested that you could take the audience from one channel and move it to another media channel. One important fact that I forgot to add is that the content still needs to be engaging on the new platform.

Case in point
The new HBO drama Hooking Up

They got all the big Youtube Stars Kevjumba, sxePhil, Mr.Safety, Nalts, lonelygirl15, to star in the show. However they skimped on a good script and found out that half the cast were vloggers who couldn’t act.

Audience equity doesn’t just relate to mass media celebrities. Lately I have seen a lot of bloggers using their audience equity to increase traffic to their blog. Audience equity is getting an audience from one media channel which you are producing content in, to another channel. The following is three examples of Audience Equity being used by bloggers

1. Plurk/Twitter –to - Blog
Media Hunter, Servant of Chaos, Jeremiah from WebStrategy are three people who I see using it Twitter and Plurk well. A warning though, the people who are doing this well are not just promoting their blog but adding valuable discussion on these channels as well.

2. Facebook –to - Blog
Josh Strawczynski a friend of mine who has been using his Facebook to try and drive traffic to his site. Joseph Jaffe and Mitch Joel have also been known to use their Facebook Groups to promote their podcasts.

3. Podcast -to- Blog
I currently guest on the Marketing Today Podcast, I have had some success with this, getting emails from listeners that have contacted me through my blog.

What strategies are you using to optimize and harness your audience equity? Have you seen any other good examples of audience equity at use?

Audience Equity: Is to take an entities audience from one channel of communication and transfer it to another.

On the Marketing Today podcast Ep. 60 I coined the term Audience Equity when referring to the idea that Kyle and Jackie O were a great choice of hosts for Big Brother 08, they have a loyal audience following on their radio show. With the choice to make them hosts of Big Brother, BB08 were able to take their audience from their radio show and move it to a Television Show.

This occured through the two radio stars most likely speaking about the show on their morning radio show, their audience will be made to have to watch the television show or not understand the conversations that would be going on between the hosts.

For more examples of Audience Equity read Graeme Watson post at Training Wheels on the subject.
